My take is that Hanna thinks herself as a freak, and it's people like
Wiegler that made her believe that. Children shouldn't have to be made to
think like that, no matter how different they are.
[ Just as he figured, really. And that hit a little close to home, but he was still the adult here. ]
Okay. Just try to keep your head level. I get if anything Hanna's told you is personal, but is there anything to suggest Wiegler's trying to help? [ And maybe misguidedly. He can't just take this completely at face value either. ]
Yeah, that sounds best. I know Hanna's more into hiding than anything, too.
And I know that! But they both - both Hanna and Wiegler said that she's not supposed to feel fear. I guess Hanna might be a bit more human than people want to make her, and the rest of us, believe.
She just wants to be left alone and live, okay? I guess that'll be a little harder, now.
Thanks, James. It's... Wiegler reminds me of one of the bad guys at home - he's not CIA, he's more like businessman-politician, but the parallels are just too many.
Luthor'd be bad news, and I'm trying to keep an open mind about Wiegler, but it's not easy.
[ Robin... delays the answer just a little bit. But moping - even if he does feel like it - isn't his way, even when losing people hits him pretty hard. When he replies, his voice sounds chipper and bright, as usual. ]
Yeah, sure. Do you take them to the Oxygen Garden?
We’re shorthanded again. If you can’t make it in for your shifts, please let me know, by public message if necessary. If you don’t arrive within an hour of the beginning of a scheduled shift, we’ll be sending someone to look for you, so don’t be careless: a lack of communication will put those people in unnecessary danger. Obviously, you should still get to Medbay if you need to.
It would also be best if we can have two people in Comms at all times, especially if one of them is experiencing more severe symptoms. This is an attempt to ensure that everyone in urgent need of medical attention receives it as soon as possible. I’ll be there most of the time, but I’ll need to sleep now and then. Aside from the usual, I’d like everyone to keep a particular eye out for subnetwork activity.
Please visit Nathan in Medbay if you have the chance. He may be lucid.
Finally, please let me know if you received this in error. It’s important that it reaches its intended recipient.
[OOC: Department is down to 5, which is plenty, but I know some of the characters are skiving to go do other things and at least one or two are still pretty ill. This is only going to the people who aren’t already calling in sick, as per our discussion last week. Note that the mods’ “no NPC help” means that there will not be actual subnetwork activity to notice -- the characters don’t know that, so they’d be looking for it. Also, Nathan won’t be up for visitors: he’ll be gone as of the jump, which I was unaware of when I wrote this up! Still, it's the thought that counts.]
I'm already in Medbay, so I'll be checking in on him as much as I can. And can probably come to Comms for a couple of hours at a time, relieve others to get some rest.

[ He told Marissa he'd follow up with someone, and that's what he was doing. Why not ask the kids? ]
Re: ( ax ) » voice
[ Annnd suddenly at attention. ]
Hey, James. Yeah, I might've. She's the one who asked after Elrond over the network a few days after the jump before this one. Why?

What's you're take on her and what she was saying about Hanna? I haven't seen this girl or had a chance to talk to her yet.

Re: ( ax ) » voice
[ There was a small delay, and at least Dick's voice sounded a trifle calmer. ]
I don't know. But for a modified human who's not supposed to feel fear, Hanna's sure very scared of Wiegler. And not in the fake way.
Re: ( ax ) » voice
And everyone feels fear at some point, for one reason or another. Don't ever be fooled.
